Welcome to Generalist World! These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website at www.generalist.world and all associated services, platforms, and community spaces (collectively, “our Services”). Please read them carefully.
By using our Services — whether as a visitor or a registered member — you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don’t agree, please stop using our Services.
These Terms apply to all users of our Services, whether you have a free or Premium account. Sections relating to payment and Premium membership are clearly marked and only apply to Premium members.

Who Can Use Our Services
You can use our Services if you are 18 years of age or older and are legally able to enter into a binding agreement. By using our Services, you confirm that this applies to you.
We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use our Services. If we become aware that a member is under 18, we will remove their account.
Membership
Free membership
Anyone can register for a free Generalist World account. Free members can access our public content, newsletter, and events that are open to all.
Premium membership (paid members only)
Premium membership is a one-time, lifetime purchase. Once you’ve purchased Premium membership, you’ll have ongoing access to:
- Our private Slack community
- Member-only events via Luma
- Member-only resources and content
- Member-only email communications via Beehiiv
Because Premium membership is a lifetime purchase rather than a subscription, there are no recurring charges. You will never be billed again after your initial purchase.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity that takes place under your account. Please don’t share your account with anyone else — Premium membership is for individual use only and may not be transferred to another person.
If you think your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@generalist.world.
You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep it up to date.
Payments and Refunds (Premium members only)
Premium membership is purchased as a one-time payment, processed securely via Stripe. By completing a purchase, you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method provided and that the information you supply is accurate and complete.
Refund policy
We offer a 30-day refund policy on Premium membership. If you’re not satisfied, contact us within 30 days of your purchase at hello@generalist.world and we’ll process a full refund, no questions asked.
When a refund is issued, your Premium membership access will be removed, including your access to the private Slack community, member-only Luma events, and member-only beehiiv email communications. Your free account will remain active.
After the 30-day window, we are unable to offer refunds as Premium membership is a lifetime purchase.
We reserve the right to modify the price of new Premium memberships at any time. Any price changes will not affect existing lifetime members.
Acceptable Use
By using our Services, you agree not to:
- Use our Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation
- Harass, threaten, or harm other members
- Scrape, copy, or systematically extract data or content from our Services without our written permission
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our Services or another member’s account
- Use our Services to send spam, unsolicited messages, or promotional content in violation of our Code of Conduct
- Upload or share content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others
- Use any automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with our Services without our prior written consent
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of our Services
Violation of these rules may result in suspension or termination of your account.
Curated Connections
Generalist World offers an optional member matching service called Curated Connections, powered by a third-party platform. Participation is entirely opt-in — you will never be added to Curated Connections without actively choosing to do so yourself.
If you choose to participate, you will enter your own information directly into the Curated Connections platform. Please only share information you are comfortable sharing with other members. You can withdraw from Curated Connections at any time by contacting us.
Your Content
Our community spaces allow members to share posts, questions, resources, and other content (“Member Content”). You keep full ownership of anything you share. By posting in our community spaces, you grant Generalist World a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and share that content within our Services for the purpose of running the community.
You are responsible for anything you post. By sharing Member Content you confirm that:
- You have the right to share it
- It does not infringe anyone else’s intellectual property or privacy
- It does not contain false or misleading information
- It complies with these Terms and our Code of Conduct
We reserve the right to remove any Member Content that violates these Terms or our Code of Conduct, at our discretion and without prior notice.
Confidentiality of member content
Content shared in private or member-only spaces is intended to remain within those spaces. You agree not to share, screenshot, or reproduce content posted by other members outside of Generalist World without their explicit permission.
Our Content
All content created and published by Generalist World — including text, graphics, recordings, resources, course materials, and community guides — belongs to us or our licensed contributors and is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, or use our content commercially without our prior written permission.
You’re welcome to share links to our content and reference it for personal or professional development purposes.
Events
Generalist World hosts online and in-person events. By registering for an event, you agree to our Code of Conduct and, where applicable, any additional event-specific terms communicated at the time of registration.
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule events. Where a paid event is cancelled by us, you will be entitled to a full refund of your ticket cost. We are not responsible for any travel, accommodation, or other costs you incur in connection with attending an event.
By attending an event, you acknowledge that photos and video may be taken for community and promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please inform the event host.
Third-Party Platforms and Links
Our Services operate across several platforms including Slack, Luma, Beehiiv, Notion, Google Workspace, Score App, and Curated Connections. Each of these has its own terms of service and privacy policy, and your use of those platforms is subject to their own rules in addition to ours. We may also link to third-party websites and resources for your convenience. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or reliability of any third-party sites. Clicking external links is at your own risk.
AI Tools
Generalist World offers an AI Career Coach tool at generalist.lovable.app. This tool is provided as-is for your personal career exploration and does not currently collect or store your personal data.
Output from AI tools is generated automatically and should not be treated as professional career, legal, financial, or other advice. Always use your own judgement and seek qualified professionals where needed. Generalist World accepts no liability for decisions made based on AI-generated output.
Privacy and Data
Your use of our Services is also subject to our Privacy Policy, available at www.generalist.world/privacy-policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using our Services, you confirm that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.
Community Standards
Your use of our Services is also governed by our Code of Conduct, available at www.generalist.world/code-of-conduct, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Behaviour that violates the Code of Conduct may result in suspension or removal from the community.
Suspension and Termination
If you want to leave
You can stop using our Services at any time. If you wish to close your account entirely, contact us at hello@generalist.world.
If you are a free member, your account will simply be closed with no further action needed.
If you are a Premium member and wish to close your account within 30 days of your purchase, please refer to our refund policy above. After the 30-day window, closing your account does not entitle you to a refund as Premium membership is a lifetime purchase. Your access to Premium spaces will be removed upon closure.
If we need to suspend or remove you
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently remove any member’s access to our Services if we believe they have:
- Violated these Terms or our Code of Conduct
- Engaged in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
- Behaved in a way that is harmful to other members or to the community
In serious cases, we may take action without prior warning. Where possible, we will give notice and an opportunity to respond before taking action. Removal does not entitle a Premium member to a refund outside of the 30-day refund window.
Disclaimers
Our Services are provided in good faith and on an “as is” basis. While we work hard to keep things running smoothly, we cannot guarantee that our Services will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted. We are not liable for any disruption or unavailability caused by third-party platforms we rely on, including Slack, Luma, or Beehiiv.
The content shared in our community — including advice, recommendations, and resources shared by members or generated by AI tools — is for informational and peer-support purposes only. It does not constitute professional legal, financial, career, medical, or other advice. Always use your own judgement and seek qualified professionals where needed.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Generalist World will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from your use of our Services, including losses arising from:
- Member-to-member interactions or disputes
- Reliance on community content or AI-generated output
- Temporary or permanent unavailability of our platforms
- Unauthorised access to your account
- Any action taken by a third-party platform we use
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of our Services will not exceed the amount you paid for your membership in the 12 months preceding the claim. For free members, our total liability is limited to £100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Generalist World, its staff, contractors, and affiliates from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of our Services, your Member Content, or your violation of these Terms.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our Services, legal requirements, or business practices. When we make significant changes, we will notify members by email and update the date at the top of this page. By continuing to use our Services after changes are made, you accept the updated Terms.
If you do not agree with updated Terms, you should stop using our Services and contact us at hello@generalist.world.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
If you have a concern, we’d always encourage you to reach out to us directly first at hello@generalist.world — we’d rather resolve things informally if we can.
Severability and Waiver
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms at any given time does not waive our right to enforce it in the future.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Code of Conduct, constitute the entire agreement between you and Generalist World regarding your use of our Services and supersede any prior agreements between us.
